From Zaandam you take the access roads to the A8 at the Zaandam interchange and head south towards the Coenplein. There you enter the Coentunnel and follow the A10-West past Sloterdijk to the De Nieuwe Meer interchange, where you join the A4 towards The Hague; the Schiphol exit brings you straight to the departure hall. From Zaandam-Zuid and the Achtersluispolder, the driver often takes the Thorbeckeweg (N516) to reach the same Coentunnel corridor. The bottleneck on this route is the Coentunnel: during the morning rush hour (roughly 7:00-9:00) traffic towards Amsterdam regularly grinds to a halt, and the A10-West and De Nieuwe Meer fill up as well.
