From Hilversum there are two logical routes. The fastest is usually via the A27 towards Almere, joining the A1 at the Eemnes interchange towards Amsterdam, and at Diemen taking the A9 past Amstelveen and Badhoevedorp to the terminal.
Outside the rush hour that takes around 40 minutes. The familiar bottlenecks sit on the A1 between Muiderberg and Diemen and on the A9 near Amstelveen; during the morning peak (roughly 07:00-09:30 towards Amsterdam) and the evening peak the travel time can rise to around 60 minutes.
The alternative is the N201 via Vreeland and Vinkeveen, which runs south of the motorway congestion and comes out near Aalsmeer towards Schiphol-Rijk — when there are tailbacks on the A1/A9, the driver takes that option.

What time do I need to be picked up in Hilversum for an 08:00 flight?+
Work it backwards: for an 08:00 flight you want to be at Schiphol around 06:00 (a good 2 hours of check-in time). With around 40 minutes of driving time and some margin, that means a pick-up around 05:00-05:10 in Hilversum. Because there is no night surcharge, you simply pay the fixed fare for such an early ride.
Which route does the driver take from Hilversum to Schiphol?+
As standard via the A27, A1 and A9 past Amstelveen and Badhoevedorp — around 40 minutes outside the rush hour. If it is gridlocked on the A1 near Diemen or the A9 near Amstelveen, the N201 via Vreeland and Vinkeveen is the alternative. The driver picks the fastest option on the day itself.
Isn't there a direct train from Hilversum to Schiphol?+
True: the intercity runs directly in around 30 minutes and is cheaper.
