Your ride from Edam-Volendam
Famous for its cheese market and the painted houses along the Volendam harbour, Edam-Volendam draws visitors from all over the world — and most of them face the same last question: how to reach Schiphol with the luggage and the souvenirs. From here Schipholride offers a fixed all-in price from €70, with VAT, your luggage and the parking costs at Schiphol already included. You choose your segment: Comfort (€70, VW Passat or similar), Premium (€85, Mercedes E-Class or similar), Van for 5-8 people (€95, V-Class or similar) or VIP (€140, S-Class or similar). The 46-kilometre journey takes around 45 minutes outside the rush hour, rising to roughly 70 minutes when traffic builds. There is no night surcharge, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure, and on an arrival pick-up your flight is tracked live with 60 minutes of free waiting after landing.
From Volendam or Edam the driver heads out via the Zeddeweg or the N244 to the N247, the provincial road that runs through the Waterland countryside past Monnickendam and Broek in Waterland towards Amsterdam-Noord. At 't Schouw the N247 joins the A10 ring road; through the Coen Tunnel it continues along the A10-West to the Nieuwe Meer interchange, where the A4 brings you to the Schiphol exit within minutes. The N247 is the vulnerable part of this route: it is largely single-carriageway and during the morning rush (roughly 7:00-9:00) traffic towards Amsterdam-Noord regularly grinds to a halt, as does the Coen Tunnel itself. Roadworks on the N247 periodically force diversions via the A7 and N244. In the evenings and at weekends the run is usually smooth and the 45 minutes is comfortably achievable. The driver keeps an eye on live traffic and, when needed, takes the longer way round via Purmerend and the A7.
Pick-up in Edam-Volendam
Schipholride arranges pick-ups across the whole municipality: from the Marinapark and the dyke quarter in Volendam to the historic centre of Edam and the surrounding villages of Oosthuizen, Kwadijk, Middelie, Warder, Beets, Hobrede and Schardam. In the old heart of Volendam around the harbour, and in the narrow lanes of Edam, a car cannot always wait right at your front door — give your exact address when you book and the driver finds the nearest sensible stop. If you are staying at one of the waterfront hotels, mention the hotel name and the driver collects you at the entrance. For companies on the Julianaweg or in the Purmer, collection is simply on site.

Pick-up from Schiphol
On the way back from Schiphol your flight is tracked live: if you land late, your pick-up moment shifts with it and you get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing. That matters here, because there is no direct public transport from Schiphol to Edam-Volendam late at night — bus 316 leaves from Amsterdam Centraal and stops running after midnight — whereas the taxi takes you straight to your door or your hotel.
Frequently asked questions
What time should I be collected in Volendam for an 08:00 flight?+
Allow around 45 minutes of driving time outside the rush hour, plus a good two hours for check-in and security at Schiphol. For a flight at 08:00, a pick-up around 05:00 leaves plenty of margin. If your departure falls within the morning rush, the driver builds in extra time, as the journey can then stretch to roughly 70 minutes. There is no night surcharge for an early start.
Can I take the train from Edam-Volendam to Schiphol instead?+
Not directly: the municipality has no railway station. By public transport you take bus 316 to Amsterdam and change there for the train to Schiphol Airport. That works fine during the day, but with a lot of luggage, an early flight or a group of travellers, a door-to-door taxi from Volendam or Edam is usually the more practical choice.
I'm visiting Volendam as a tourist — can the driver collect me at my hotel?+
Yes. Schipholride arranges pick-ups at the waterfront hotels along the Volendam harbour and at guesthouses in Edam. Because the dyke and the narrow old streets are partly car-free, give the hotel name when you book; the driver meets you at the nearest accessible entrance and helps with the luggage. The fixed price already covers VAT, baggage and parking at Schiphol.
Is the N247 a problem in the rush hour on the way to Schiphol?+
The N247 towards Amsterdam-Noord and the Coen Tunnel are the well-known bottlenecks during the morning rush; the journey can then climb to roughly 70 minutes instead of 45. The driver knows the route and, when it is busy or there are roadworks, diverts via Purmerend and the A7. Rush-hour traffic is taken into account when your pick-up time is planned.
Can I be collected from smaller villages such as Oosthuizen or Warder?+
Yes. Schipholride arranges rides from across the whole municipality of Edam-Volendam, including Oosthuizen, Kwadijk, Middelie, Warder, Beets, Hobrede and Schardam. The fixed price applies throughout the municipality; you simply enter your address when you book and a screened driver is ready at your door at the agreed time.
