Trust + safety

Safety first
on every ride

Drivers holding the legally required Dutch taxi licence and driver card (including conduct certificate), vehicles that meet the legal requirements and GDPR-compliant data protection. SchipholRide is a booking platform; the affiliated carrier is responsible for insurance and the condition of the vehicle. Our standards in detail below.

What you can count on

The legal basis of every ride

No badge talk — just what Dutch law requires, and therefore applies to every ride. All requirements listed on the legal requirements page.

Licensed drivers

Every ride is carried out by a carrier holding the legally required Dutch taxi licence (ILT) and Kiwa driver card — including the mandatory Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).

Vehicles meeting the taxi rules

Every ride is driven in a vehicle that must meet the Dutch legal taxi requirements: blue licence plates, taxi inspection and the on-board computer (BCT).

GDPR and secure payment

GDPR-compliant: opt-in cookies, data-processing agreements with our service providers, and payments we can never see ourselves (Stripe, PCI DSS Level 1).

Registered Dutch company

SchipholRide is a Dutch company, registered with the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 82488703. You know exactly who you are booking with — our company details are in the footer of every page.

Insurance

Insurance and breakdown

🛡

Legally insured transport

Every affiliated carrier is responsible for holding the insurances legally required for taxi transport. SchipholRide is a booking platform and does not carry out the transport itself; we do not provide any passenger or occupant insurance and cannot vouch for it.

🛡

24/7 breakdown assistance

Vehicle breakdown during a ride: replacement transport as fast as possible, or a taxi to your destination. No extra cost to you.

Vehicle safety

Maintenance and equipment

🚗

APK and inspections

Affiliated carriers must hold a valid Dutch APK and the legally required inspections. The carrier is responsible for the technical condition and maintenance of the vehicle.

🚗

Safety features

Vehicles driving for SchipholRide must have the legally required safety equipment, such as ESP, ABS and airbags. Further assistance systems depend on the carrier's vehicle.

🚗

Fire extinguisher + first aid

Under Dutch regulations the carrier must equip the vehicle with, among other things, a fire extinguisher, first-aid kit and warning triangle. The carrier is responsible for this.

🚗

Approved child seats

Bookable on request — baby (0–13 months), toddler (9–18 kg) or booster (15–36 kg) seats, all ECE R44/04 or i-Size approved.

Drivers

Legal requirements for drivers

Full onboarding process on the drivers page.

Driver card + conduct certificate

Every taxi driver in the Netherlands must hold a Kiwa driver card. It is only issued with a recent Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) from the Dutch Ministry of Justice screening authority (Justis).

Taxi licence (ILT)

The carrier must hold a valid taxi operator licence, issued by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).

Professional competence

The driver card requires passing the statutory Dutch taxi exam: knowledge of the rules, safe driving and passenger care.

Evaluation on incident

On any complaint or incident, an immediate evaluation follows. More detail on /en/chauffeurs.

FAQ

Safety questions

Are vehicles tracked with GPS?+

Vehicles yes — for dispatch, route optimisation and in case of theft/accident. People no — we don't track you as a traveller; you're anonymous once the ride is complete.

How long do you keep my data?+

Bookings and invoices 7 years (Dutch tax law). Customer-service communications 2 years. Marketing emails until you unsubscribe. On request we delete earlier where legally possible.

Who has access to my booking details?+

Only the driver doing your ride (gets name, phone and address) and our admin team for support. No third parties, no data resale.

What if I feel uncomfortable with the driver?+
