Two child seats, €15 per booking

Both ECE R44/04 or i-Size approved. One charge of €15 per booking, however many seats you request.

Maxi-Cosi (infant seat)

Rear-facing i-Size approved infant seat. Select it at the vehicle step when booking (€15 per booking).

9 months to 4 years

Toddler seat

9 to 18 kg

Toddler seat with 5-point harness. ECE R44/04 approved. Select it at the vehicle step when booking (€15 once per booking).

Older children

over 18 kg

We don't arrange a seat for them, and in a taxi one isn't required: children shorter than 1.35 metres sit in the back with the normal seat belt. You can always bring your own seat, free of charge.

Six tips for the ride to Schiphol with children

Book ahead when you can

The first child seat is always arranged. Extra seats depend on availability, so the earlier you book, the better.

Leave earlier with kids

Schiphol check-in with children and luggage is slower. Add at least 30 minutes to solo timing.

Pack the night before

Lay everything by the front door the evening before. The morning rush with kids is no time for packing.

Bring snacks and a drink

Car ride 30–90 minutes. A small snack and a water bottle help to prevent restlessness.

Toys or tablet ready

Entertainment in the car and later at the gate. Tablet charged, content downloaded.

Toilet break just before leaving

Even if they say 'I don't need to', ask anyway. Nothing is worse than a kid needing the toilet in traffic.

A day out at Schiphol with children: worth it even without a flight

A day out at Schiphol with your child is surprisingly fun, even if nobody is flying. From the Panorama Terrace you can spot planes together: you see aircraft taxiing, taking off and landing. The terrace also has a real Fokker 100 that you can see up close. Check the terrace's current opening hours on schiphol.nl before you go.

Schiphol Plaza is open to everyone, with shops, places to eat and the railway station right under the terminal, handy for a short break with young children. Flying yourselves later? Then a day of plane spotting is a nice way to prepare: on the actual travel day the airport already feels familiar.

Which vehicle class suits your family

Comfort for one baby and parents

Volkswagen Passat or similar with a child seat. Fits 1–2 parents, 1 baby or toddler and 2–3 suitcases.

Minivan for two or more children

Mercedes V-Class or similar with room for more than one child seat (extra seats depend on availability). Lots of legroom, no squeezed-in kids.

VIP for special occasions

Mercedes S-Class or similar for a business family trip or a special event: discretion, luxury and a child seat.

Questions about travelling with children

How many child seats can you provide?

You can request more than one, in any combination of Maxi-Cosi and toddler seat. The first seat is guaranteed; extra seats depend on availability and may not be present on the day. The €15 is charged once per booking, whatever the number.

Does a child seat cost extra?

Yes, €15 once per booking no matter how many seats you request. Select a Maxi-Cosi or toddler seat at the vehicle step when booking; the driver brings the correct seat to your pickup.

Are child seats required by law?

Not in a taxi. In the Netherlands the child seat rule for children under 1.35 m does not apply to taxis: without a seat, those children travel in the back. We do recommend a seat for babies and toddlers; the driver installs it correctly.

Can I bring my own child seat?

Yes, free. Bringing your own can be handy if you need it at your destination. The driver helps install it.

What if my child gets sick or needs the toilet during the ride?

The drivers are flexible: just agree a short stop with your driver on the way. For sudden illness: dash to a service station or public toilet. A planned extra stop goes into your booking, where you see the surcharge straight away.

Is Schiphol a good day out with children?
