Fully compliant

Every legal
requirement met

Taxi transport in the Netherlands is tightly regulated — and rightly so. Every driver working for SchipholRide meets the legal requirements: from the ILT operator licence and the driver card to the on-board taxi computer. Below we explain what each requirement means.

The requirements

What the law asks — and what we arrange

Six requirements for legal taxi transport, each of which every affiliated driver demonstrably meets.

ILT taxi operator licence

To provide taxi transport in the Netherlands, an operator licence for taxi transport is mandatory, issued under the supervision of the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT). Every carrier driving for SchipholRide holds this licence. Without a valid licence, no one may carry out paid passenger taxi transport.

Driver card with background check

Every driver holds a valid driver card (chauffeurskaart). It is issued by Kiwa Register and can only be granted after an approved Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and a medical examination. The card is displayed in the vehicle during every ride and proves the driver is authorised to carry out taxi transport.

On-board taxi computer (BCT)

Every taxi vehicle has an on-board taxi computer (boordcomputer taxi, BCT). It records the driver's driving and rest times as well as the ride data, and is legally required. The BCT keeps working and rest hours verifiable, contributing to safe, well-rested driving.

Kiwa licence documents

Kiwa Register issues the licence certificates and driver cards for taxi transport on behalf of the government. The documents every SchipholRide driver carries are issued through this official channel and kept up to date.

Insurance in line with the law

The affiliated carrier holds the insurances legally required for taxi transport, including liability cover. SchipholRide is a booking platform and does not carry out the transport itself; the carrier is responsible for its insurance and can show it on request.

Blue licence plate

In the Netherlands, taxi vehicles carry a blue licence plate. That is the outward, visible proof that the vehicle is officially registered as a taxi for paid passenger transport.

Our role

A platform and a quality gate

SchipholRide is a booking platform: we connect you with a licensed driver. The licences, the driver card, the on-board computer and the insurance are and remain the responsibility of the affiliated carrier. We only work with drivers who meet these legal requirements, so you can step in with peace of mind.
