Your ride from Marken
Marken was a real island in the Zuiderzee until 1957; since then a dyke road runs to the mainland and the village belongs to the Waterland municipality. The green-painted wooden houses stand on werven, small mounds that once kept the water out, and at the eastern point stands the lighthouse called the Paard van Marken.
From that setting to the departure hall you ride for a fixed amount: €75 in Comfort, €95 in Premium, €100 for the Van (5-8 seats) and €175 for VIP. The distance is 42 kilometres and outside rush hour the ride takes about 46 minutes.
Every rate includes VAT, luggage and the parking at Schiphol; surcharges for night, public holidays or extra cases are never added. You pay online straight away, at least 1 hour before departure.
There's only one road off Marken: the N518 over the dyke that has connected the former island with the shore since 1957. With the Markermeer on either side you drive to Monnickendam in a short ten minutes, where you pick up the N247 towards Amsterdam.
Via Broek in Waterland and the Het Schouw junction you join the A10-Noord, through the Coentunnel and over the A10-West to the De Nieuwe Meer interchange; the A4 covers the last kilometres to the Schiphol exit.
Outside rush hour you're at the terminal after about 46 minutes. Two things make this ride sensitive. The dyke road has no alternative, so in the event of works or a closure there's nothing to divert to. And the N247 towards Amsterdam fills in the morning peak, so the journey can rise towards 67 minutes.
Your driver therefore takes the pick-up time generously for an early flight.
Pick-up in Marken
The werven have limited car access: a permit scheme applies to the village and visitors park at the village edge. For residents the driver pulls up as close as possible. In the Kerkbuurt and the Havenbuurt that's often the head of the path, at Rozewerf, Wittewerf and Grotewerf the nearest paved spot.
Give your address and the werf at booking, so an exact boarding point is agreed beforehand, at the car park by the village entrance if need be. If you're coming from the marina or a holiday home, mention that in the address field too.

Taxi from Schiphol Airport to Marken
Back from Schiphol you board at the meeting point in the arrivals hall of Schiphol Plaza. The flight status is tracked, so with a delay the pick-up moment moves along, and after landing you have 60 minutes of free waiting time for passport control and luggage.
Then you ride back in about 46 minutes, with the dyke road as the finale. If your flight doesn't go ahead at all, report it at least 4 hours ahead: the ride moves free of charge to another date or you get 50 percent back.

What does a ride from Marken cost?+
The fixed total price is €75 for Comfort, €95 for Premium, €100 for the Van seating five to eight and €175 for VIP. VAT, cases and the parking at the airport are already in it.
Where does the driver board if my house is on a werf?+
You agree a boarding point beforehand that's reachable by car, for example the start of your path or the car park by the village entrance. Mention your werf in the booking, so it's clear straight away at departure.
Do we travel to the airport with eight people in one car?+
Yes, the Van (Mercedes V-Class or similar) takes five to eight passengers and costs €100 from Marken as a fixed amount. With lots of luggage you indicate that at booking, so the space is matched to it.
How long does the driver wait if the baggage belt is slow?+
From the moment the aircraft touches the ground, 60 minutes of free waiting time runs. The flight is tracked, so the counter begins at the real landing and not at the time on your ticket.
Can we pick someone up in Monnickendam on the way?+
An intermediate stop is possible but costs extra, because the route and the driving time change. Give the address at booking, so you see straight away what the ride including that stop costs in total.
How far in advance do I need to book my Schiphol taxi?+
You can book online up to 1 hour before pickup, day and night; only between 02:00 and 09:00 you can't book a ride departing that same morning. If online booking is no longer available, just call 085 060 2543 and we'll see what's possible. Booking earlier is always wise — especially in holiday periods.
Can my dog or pet come along?+
By arrangement — mention it when booking and we'll take it into account.
Can I bring a wheelchair or walker?+
Yes — your wheelchair or walker travels free of charge. If it's too big for the boot, mention it when booking so a suitable vehicle can be scheduled. On request we can also arrange a wheelchair-accessible taxi.
