The drive begins gently, through the leafy lanes of the villa district towards the edge of Heemstede or Haarlem, after which the driver follows the N201 or the Zandvoortselaan until reaching the A9 or the link towards the A4.
The A9 carries you via Badhoevedorp onto the A4 corridor and the Schiphol exit; those 23 kilometres pass in roughly 28 minutes outside the peaks. The quiet start through the dune fringe costs little time. Delays arise further on, on the A9 around Haarlem-Zuid and the Badhoevedorp interchange, which can seize up during the morning and evening rush.
Journey time then climbs to forty minutes or more. When planning your pick-up time the driver allows for that peak congestion and selects the smoothest through-route for the moment of travel.
Getting from the lanes of Aerdenhout to the edge of Heemstede takes no time at all. The minutes are lost further on, on the A9 near Haarlem-Zuid and at the Badhoevedorp interchange, which is why a morning and an afternoon departure differ so much here.
