From Heemstede the run to Schiphol crosses the Cruquiusbrug and follows the N201 through Hoofddorp, covering 18 kilometres in around 25 minutes outside the rush hour. For that journey SchipholRide charges a fixed all-in price from €42, with VAT, luggage and the parking costs at Schiphol already included; there is no night surcharge, so an early flight costs the same as a midday run.

Your route and departure time
The natural route starts on the eastern edge of Heemstede: along the Cruquiusweg you cross the Ringvaart at the Cruquiusbrug, then pick up the N201 (Kruisweg) towards Hoofddorp and the A4 by Schiphol. Outside the rush hour those 18 kilometres take around 25 minutes.
Two points decide your real travel time. The Cruquiusbrug is a movable bridge over the Ringvaart that opens for passing boats, and the Kruisweg through Hoofddorp has a string of traffic lights that back up between roughly 7:00 and 9:30 in the morning and 16:00 to 18:30 in the evening.
In the rush hour the trip can stretch to around 35 minutes. If the bridge is up or the Kruisweg is solid, the driver can switch to the N205 (Drie Merenweg) and the A9, a slightly longer but often smoother alternative.
For an early flight it pays to leave before 6:30, when the N201 is almost always quiet and the 25-minute estimate holds comfortably.

Heemstede is compact, so the pick-up time varies by only a few minutes from one neighbourhood to the next. Whether you live in the Oude Dorp near the Raadhuisstraat, in the Indische Buurt, the Rivierenbuurt, Merlenhoven, or down south on De Glip, the driver comes to the address you give when you book.

If the bridge is open or the Kruisweg is jammed, the N205 with its link to the A9 is a solid alternative that the driver can choose on the spot, depending on the traffic that day.
Is the taxi quicker than the train from Heemstede-Aerdenhout?
From Heemstede-Aerdenhout station you have to change at least once on the way to Schiphol, putting you at around 35 minutes on the train alone, plus the journey to the station itself. A taxi collects you at home and runs door to door in around 25 minutes outside the rush hour, which really tells with luggage, children, or a flight before the first train.
