The natural route starts on the eastern edge of Heemstede: along the Cruquiusweg you cross the Ringvaart at the Cruquiusbrug, then pick up the N201 (Kruisweg) towards Hoofddorp and the A4 by Schiphol. Outside the rush hour those 18 kilometres take around 25 minutes.
Two points decide your real travel time. The Cruquiusbrug is a movable bridge over the Ringvaart that opens for passing boats, and the Kruisweg through Hoofddorp has a string of traffic lights that back up between roughly 7:00 and 9:30 in the morning and 16:00 to 18:30 in the evening.
In the rush hour the trip can stretch to around 35 minutes. If the bridge is up or the Kruisweg is solid, the driver can switch to the N205 (Drie Merenweg) and the A9, a slightly longer but often smoother alternative.
For an early flight it pays to leave before 6:30, when the N201 is almost always quiet and the 25-minute estimate holds comfortably.

Work back from your departure time: around two hours for check-in and security, plus the 25-minute drive and a little margin. For a 07:00 flight that means a pick-up around 04:15 to 04:30. Early in the morning the N201 is empty, and because Schipholride applies no night surcharge, you simply pay the fixed price for that early run.
Which roads does the driver take from Heemstede to Schiphol?+
The standard route runs over the Cruquiusbrug and along the N201 (Kruisweg) through Hoofddorp to the A4 by Schiphol: 18 kilometres, around 25 minutes outside the rush hour.
