The ride begins on the 's-Gravendamseweg, the N443 that runs east from the village through the bulb fields towards Sassenheim. There your driver turns onto the A44, which heads north past the Kagerplassen lakes to the Burgerveen interchange; from that junction the A4 takes over towards Hoofddorp and the Schiphol exit.
Outside rush hour that 29-kilometre route takes about 31 minutes. Burgerveen is the moment when the journey time can flip, because traffic from the A44 merges there onto a busy A4; in the morning peak the ride rises towards 46 minutes.
In spring a typical Bollenstreek problem is added: the flower and Keukenhof traffic on the N208 and the N443 causes extra hold-ups in March and April. An alternative runs via Lisse and the N207 to the A4 at Nieuw-Vennep; your driver chooses based on the live situation.
