Among the larger Dutch seaside towns, Katwijk stands out for lacking a railway station of its own, which leaves the bus or the car for anyone airport-bound. For an early flight the choice quickly falls on a taxi that carries you straight from the coast to the departure hall.
Comfort costs a fixed €75. The 35-kilometre drive takes around 33 minutes outside the busy hours; departing in the morning peak, allow extra. VAT, your luggage and the airport parking are settled within that rate, and a night surcharge is never charged.

The way out runs via the N206 along the dunes to the A44, then north-east towards the airport, leaving at exit 3 or 4 by the terminal. From Katwijk aan Zee and Katwijk aan den Rijn you are on the N206 straight away; from Valkenburg the A44 is already close.
Off-peak the 35-kilometre stretch takes about 33 minutes. Hold-ups build on the A44 around Leiden and at the connection with the A4; in the morning crush the travel time can rise to about 48 minutes. If the A44 is packed, the route via the A4 at Leiderdorp offers the alternative.
Since Katwijk leans against the coast and the dune edge, the N206 is nearly always the first link. A rush-hour buffer sits in the planning, so you reach the check-in desk with time to spare.
Katwijk sits against the edge of the dunes, which makes the N206 almost always the first link. From Katwijk aan Zee and Katwijk aan den Rijn you take that road along the dunes to the A44; from Valkenburg you're already close to the motorway.
Living on the seafront, you therefore spend a little longer reaching the A44 than someone getting in at Valkenburg. In calm traffic the whole 35-kilometre ride takes 33 minutes, at the morning or afternoon peak 48 minutes.
For a European flight at 07:00 you should be at Schiphol by 05:00, and for that the driver picks you up at 04:10. With a long-haul flight at 19:00, 16:00 is the arrival time. You then leave in the afternoon rush, with 14:55 as the pick-up.
Those times take 15 minutes of margin into account. Delays sit mainly on the A44 around Leiden and where it joins the A4. If the A44 jams, the A4 near Leiderdorp is an alternative. For an afternoon flight from the old quarter by the sea or from Hoornes-Rijnsoever, it's wise to plan with the 48 minutes. The fixed fare doesn't change with the hour. No night, weekend or peak surcharge is charged, and Comfort costs €75.

Without a station of its own you would ride the bus to Leiden Centraal and change onto the train there. A taxi takes you from the coast to the terminal in one movement, which with cases, an early flight or a family usually proves faster and calmer than the change at Leiden.
What time am I ready for a 07:00 flight?
Flying at 07:00, being at the airport around five o'clock is a safe guideline. Take off some 33 minutes of driving and a little margin, and the pick-up in Katwijk falls around four o'clock. No night surcharge applies, so it stays the fixed €75 for Comfort.
Do you also come to Valkenburg or 't Duyfrak?

I live in the old fishing quarter by the sea. Where do I get in?

Landing late: how do I get home to Katwijk with no railway station?
Katwijk has no railway station of its own, so late-evening public transport means a bus after the train. With a booked return ride your flight is followed live and the pick-up moves with your landing. The driver waits up to 60 minutes after landing for free.
Via the A44 and the N206 you're back at the coast in about 33 minutes.
