From Hillegom the driver usually heads down the N208 (Leidsestraat) to the south side of the village, turns onto the N207 (Leimuiderweg), crosses the Ringvaart into the Haarlemmermeer over the Elsbroekerbrug and joins the A4 towards Amsterdam at junction 4 by Nieuw-Vennep.
From there it is a single exit to Schiphol. The N207 stretch is mostly an 80 km/h road with traffic lights, and two spots in particular can get sticky in the peak: the N207/N208 crossroads and the slip road onto the A4.
The motorway between Nieuw-Vennep and Schiphol is busiest on weekdays between roughly 7:00-9:30 and 16:00-19:00, when the whole trip can stretch to around 45 minutes, against about 30 minutes off-peak. If the A4 is badly congested, the driver may instead run further north on the N208 and N201 past Hoofddorp; live traffic information decides the quickest option on the day.
