Your ride from Halfweg

Halfweg literally means "halfway" — the village sits exactly between Amsterdam and Haarlem on the Ringvaart canal, and since 2019 it has been part of the same municipality as Schiphol itself: Haarlemmermeer. The airport is only about 13 kilometres away, roughly a 17-minute drive outside rush hour.

There is no direct train: from Halfweg-Zwanenburg station you always change at Amsterdam Sloterdijk, which is no fun with suitcases. A fixed-price taxi is therefore the easy choice: €45 in Comfort, €55 in Premium, €60 for the eight-seat Van and €90 for VIP.

VAT, luggage and airport parking fees are all included, and there is no night surcharge — a 4 AM pickup costs exactly the same as one at noon. Your driver simply pulls up at your front door.

The quickest way to Schiphol from Halfweg crosses the Ringvaart bridge into neighbouring Zwanenburg and then heads straight south through the polder: the Zwanenburgbaan or the parallel IJweg takes you to the N232 Schipholweg, which runs along the airport boundary right up to the terminal.

Off-peak, those 13 kilometres take about 17 minutes. When the polder roads are busy, your driver switches to the wider option via the N200 and the A9 towards the Badhoevedorp interchange, where the A4 drops you at the Schiphol exit.

During the morning and evening rush the trip can stretch to around 26 minutes — still short enough to start your journey relaxed.

Pick-up in Halfweg

Pickups work anywhere in the village: along the Haarlemmerstraatweg that runs through Halfweg, in the residential streets around Halfweg-Zwanenburg station, or at the SugarCity complex, where the old sugar-factory silos now house offices, an outlet and event venues.

If you work there or are attending an event, mention the right entrance when booking. The driver arrives at the exact address you provide and helps with the luggage.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the ride from Halfweg to Schiphol take?+

About 17 minutes outside rush hour, covering 13 kilometres via Zwanenburg and the Schipholweg. In the morning or evening peak, allow up to roughly 26 minutes.

Is there a direct train from Halfweg to Schiphol?+

No. From Halfweg-Zwanenburg station you always need to change at Amsterdam Sloterdijk. With bags in tow, a door-to-door taxi is usually faster and far more comfortable.

No. There is no night surcharge, so a pickup at 4 AM for the first departure wave costs exactly the same fixed price as a ride in the afternoon.

Certainly. Just note which entrance you need when booking — the event side or the offices — and the driver will be waiting at the right spot on time.
