Your ride from Diemen
From Diemen it is about 25 kilometres to Schiphol, a run you cover in roughly 25 minutes outside the rush hour. For that journey Schipholride charges a fixed all-in price from €50, with VAT, luggage and the parking costs at Schiphol already included, and there is no night surcharge. You choose your own segment: Comfort (€50, VW Passat or similar), Premium (€55, Mercedes E-Class or similar), Van for 5-8 people (€60, V-Class or similar) or VIP (€100, S-Class or similar). In fairness, the train is a genuine rival here: a direct Sprinter from Diemen Zuid reaches the airport in around 17 minutes for a few euros. The difference is everything before that train. From Diemen-Noord or Plantage de Sniep you first haul your bags to that one station, and Diemen station in the centre lost its direct Sprinter with the 2025 timetable. Travelling early, with cases, as a four or on business, a door-to-door car soon pays for itself. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure.
From Diemen the driver picks up the A1 almost immediately, joining at the Diemen interchange via the Gooiseweg or the Muiderstraatweg. From there it is onto the A9, which runs through the Gaasperdammertunnel and past Amstelveen to the Badhoevedorp interchange; the A4 then carries you the last few minutes to the Schiphol terminals. Outside the rush hour those 25 kilometres take around 25 minutes. The catch is the A9 around Amstelveen, which has been a long-running works zone for the Schiphol-Amsterdam-Almere widening project. During the morning rush (roughly 7:00-9:30) and the evening rush (roughly 16:00-18:30) the journey can stretch to around 40 minutes. If the A9 is shut or gridlocked, the obvious alternative is the A10-Zuid towards the A4: from the Watergraafsmeer interchange the driver reaches it just as easily from Diemen. The fastest of the two routes is chosen on the day, with current closures taken into account.
Pick-up in Diemen
Diemen is compact, so collection is quick wherever you are: from the new-build at Holland Park and Plantage de Sniep to the terraced streets of Diemen-Noord and the area around the Diemerplein in the centre. If you live in Diemen-Zuid near the station or the campus, give your exact address or the building name, because the district around the old Bergwijkpark is being redeveloped and not every street is mapped properly yet. The driver is at your door at the agreed time, and for early starts you can happily book a pick-up before 5:00 — there is no night surcharge for the early hour.

Pick-up from Schiphol
On the way back to Diemen you are home within roughly half an hour outside the rush hour, which is handy if you land after the last Sprinter towards Diemen Zuid or live in Diemen-Noord, away from the station. Your flight is tracked live, so if it is delayed the driver is still there at the right moment, with 60 minutes of free waiting time after you land. Whatever the hour, even well after midnight, you pay exactly the same fixed price: there is no night surcharge.

Work it backwards: for an 08:00 departure you want to be at Schiphol around 06:00, allowing a good two hours for check-in and security. At that hour the journey from Diemen takes around 25 minutes, so a pick-up around 05:30 leaves comfortable margin. That early the A9 is still empty, you pay the same fixed price, and there is no night surcharge.
Is the taxi from Diemen faster than the train to Schiphol?+
On the rails alone the train wins: the direct Sprinter from Diemen Zuid does it in around 17 minutes. Door to door it is less clear-cut. From Diemen-Noord or the centre you first have to reach Diemen Zuid, since Diemen station itself no longer has a direct Sprinter to Schiphol. With luggage or an early flight, the roughly 25-minute car run is often the more practical choice.
How much will the A9 roadworks affect my journey?+
The A9 between the Diemen and Badhoevedorp interchanges is regularly a works zone, sometimes with closed slip roads or narrowed lanes as part of the long-running widening project. Outside the rush hour you barely notice it; in the rush hour the trip can stretch to around 40 minutes. If needed the driver diverts via the A10-Zuid and the A4 and allows for current closures.

Yes, the whole of Diemen falls under the same fixed price — from Holland Park and Plantage de Sniep to Diemen-Noord and the centre. Because Holland Park is recent new-build, it helps to add a building name or a clear meeting point alongside your address; that way the driver is waiting in exactly the right spot rather than circling the block.
