* Comparison with the Dutch legal maximum taxi tariffs 2026 (passenger car: €4,31 start + €3,17/km + €0,52/min, wetten.overheid.nl), calculated over the usual off-peak travel time. Street taxis may charge less than the maximum; actual savings vary per ride. Full calculation per city.

Your ride from Den Helder

The Netherlands' naval port occupies the very tip of Noord-Holland: Den Helder, where the ferry casts off for Texel and Schiphol lies a full 88 kilometres to the south. Off-peak the drive takes around 84 minutes, exactly the kind of distance where a dependable taxi earns its keep, sparing you the earliest train or an overnight stay.

Fares are fixed in advance: €140 in Comfort (VW Passat or similar), €175 in Premium (Mercedes E-Class or similar), €180 for the Van with up to eight seats (V-Class or similar) and €310 in VIP (S-Class or similar).

Suitcases, VAT and the Schiphol parking charges all sit inside those amounts, and nights carry no supplement, practical for naval personnel and Texel travellers on irregular schedules. When you land back, the driver aligns the pick-up with your actual arrival, so the long ride home starts smoothly.

Virtually the whole route from Den Helder follows the N9 and the A9. The driver heads south out of the city over the N9 through the Kop van Noord-Holland, passing Schagen and Alkmaar, where the road becomes the A9.

That motorway continues via Heiloo, Uitgeest and Beverwijk towards the Haarlem area, finally meeting the A4 corridor at Badhoevedorp for the Schiphol exit. Allow about 84 minutes for the 88 kilometres outside the peaks.

The northern part over the N9 usually runs quietly; delays gather on the A9 around Alkmaar, Beverwijk and Badhoevedorp, where the morning and evening rush slows everything down. In those windows the journey can reach two hours.

Given the length and the risk of queues, your driver plans the pick-up generously so you check in with margin.

Pick-up in Den Helder

Every part of Den Helder counts as pick-up territory: the centre and the harbour, residential districts such as Nieuw Den Helder and De Schooten, and Julianadorp to the south with its beaches and holiday visitors.

Travelling onward to Texel, or stepping off the ferry, a pick-up at the ferry port is easily arranged. Write the full address into your booking and the driver stops outside your home. Den Helder station forms the northern terminus of the railway towards Alkmaar and Schiphol, yet with luggage and an early flight a direct taxi is usually more comfortable than a train plus a change.

Taxi from Schiphol Airport to Den Helder

The trip back to Den Helder favours a taxi above all in the evening and at night, when trains to the northern tip of Noord-Holland run infrequently and take their time. Your driver monitors the flight and brings you from Schiphol to the door (centre or Julianadorp alike) in roughly 84 minutes, the pick-up matched to your landing.

Excellent service for our trip from Schipol airport to Spijkenisse. Communication from the driver was excellent and we managed to arrange a earlier pick up based on his knowledge of how long the immigration queue would be. Very friendly, helpful and would highly recommend

Frequently asked questions

How much is the taxi from Den Helder to Schiphol?+

Count on €140 for Comfort, €175 for Premium, €180 for the eight-seat Van and €310 for VIP. Suitcases, VAT and the Schiphol parking all belong to the price, so nothing is settled with the driver afterwards.

How long does the journey take?+

Outside the rush hours you cover the 88 kilometres along the N9 and A9 in about 84 minutes. When the peak fills the road near Alkmaar and Beverwijk it can head towards two hours, which is why the driver builds ample margin into the pick-up time.

Can I be collected at the Texel ferry port?+

Yes. Whether you step off the boat or need dropping there, a pick-up point at the Den Helder ferry port is easily agreed. Mention it when booking and the driver waits in the right place.

Do you drive for naval personnel on early shifts?+

Certainly. With no night surcharge in play, a pick-up in the middle of the night costs the same as one at noon. For anyone working irregular hours around the naval port, that means a fixed, predictable price.

Will I reach an early flight on time?+

Yes. Because of the distance and the chance of queues, the driver schedules the pick-up generously, so you check in with room to spare. For a dawn departure you may well be collected in the dark, at the same fixed price.

Is a taxi cheaper than parking at Schiphol?+

For a longer trip it often is: you pay one fixed fare instead of parking fees per day, and you don't have to haul your cases from P3 to the terminal. Compare your own route with the price calculator.

How far in advance do I need to book my Schiphol taxi?+

You can book online up to 1 hour before pickup, day and night; only between 02:00 and 09:00 you can't book a ride departing that same morning. If online booking is no longer available, just call 085 060 2543 and we'll see what's possible. Booking earlier is always wise, especially in holiday periods.

Can my dog or pet come along?+

By arrangement: mention it when booking and we'll take it into account.
