Taxi Medemblik to Schiphol

From Medemblik the first stretch runs over the provincial N302 and N240 through the West-Frisian countryside towards Hoorn, where the A7 takes over. The motorway leads south past Purmerend and Zaandam to the fringe of Amsterdam; via the A8, the A10-west and finally the A4 the driver reaches the Schiphol exit.

The full ride measures 73 kilometres and takes about 66 minutes outside the peaks. The upper, rural half typically rolls along smoothly; the critical zone sits at the bottom, where the A8 and A10 around Zaandam and Amsterdam-West bear the brunt of the morning and evening rush.

In those windows the journey can swell to well over an hour and a half. Because the distance is considerable, the driver sets a generous pick-up time, so congestion near Amsterdam never eats into your check-in.

In a municipality with this many villages, planning starts with your address. From Andijk, Wervershoof or the harbour town itself you first drive over the N240 or the N302 to Hoorn, and only there does the A7 come into play.

For a European flight at 07:00 you want to be in the departures hall at 05:00, as Schiphol recommends for Europe. The whole 73-kilometre ride takes around 66 minutes at night; with a 15-minute buffer the car is at your door at 03:35. For an intercontinental flight at 19:00 the lower end of the route is what counts. Schiphol asks for three hours ahead, so 16:00, and on the A8 and A10 around Zaandam and Amsterdam-West traffic can start to slow in the afternoon.
