Your ride from Westland

From the Westland, the greenhouse capital of the Netherlands, you reach Schiphol in one largely unbroken run: leave Naaldwijk or 's-Gravenzande on the N211 Wippolderlaan, join the A4 at Den Haag-Zuid and follow it straight to the airport exit.

During the morning rush the drive can stretch to roughly 80 minutes. The region has no railway station of its own. By public transport you therefore take a bus or tram to Den Haag or Delft first, and change onto the train there.

From Naaldwijk, Honselersdijk and Kwintsheul the N222 (Veilingroute), the road that serves Royal FloraHolland and the World Horti Center, is the natural feeder; from Monster, Poeldijk and 's-Gravenzande the N211 carries you the same way.

Both meet on the N211 Wippolderlaan, which puts you onto the A4 at the Den Haag-Zuid junction. After that it is a single motorway: the A4 past Rijswijk, Leidschendam and Leiden to the Schiphol exit. The Wippolderlaan is the known bottleneck, where commuter and greenhouse-haulage traffic snarls up at peak times, which is exactly why the province is widening the stretch between the A4 and the N222.

Allow extra time between 7:00 and 9:30 and between 16:00 and 18:30, when the trip can climb to around 80 minutes. From Maasdijk the driver can also reach the A4 via the A20 and the Kethelplein interchange if the Westland route is blocked.

Outside the rush hour you stand at the departure hall in roughly 55 minutes. For a Schiphol taxi from the Westland the driver checks the live traffic picture before fixing your pick-up time, because the Wippolderlaan alone can add half an hour to the run.

Pick-up in Westland

On the return leg to the Westland the fixed price is identical to the outbound journey, including at night, because there is no night surcharge. If you are being collected at Schiphol, the flight is tracked live and you get 60 minutes of free waiting time after landing, so a delay is no problem.

Land on a Friday afternoon and bear in mind that the Wippolderlaan towards the villages can be just as busy as the other way; your driver knows the A20 alternative. The same fixed fare applies to every one of the eleven villages.
