Your ride from Wassenaar
From Wassenaar the N44 and A44 put you on the motorway towards Schiphol almost at once: 38 kilometres that take around 40 minutes outside the rush hour, rising to roughly 55 minutes when the morning or evening traffic builds. For that journey Schipholride charges a fixed all-in price from €95, with VAT, luggage and the parking costs at Schiphol already included. You choose your own segment: Comfort (€95, VW Passat or similar), Premium (€115, Mercedes E-Class or similar), a Van for 5-8 people (€125, V-Class or similar) or VIP (€185, S-Class or similar). Wassenaar has no railway station of its own — the line closed back in 1953 — so for the airport you rely on a car or a taxi. You book online in advance, a screened driver is at your door at the agreed time, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure. There is no night surcharge either.
Your driver leaves Wassenaar northbound along the Rijksstraatweg (N44); at the northern edge of the village, by the American School of The Hague, the N44 becomes the A44 towards Leiden and Amsterdam. At the Burgerveen interchange the A44 merges onto the A4, and the Schiphol exit follows soon after. Most of the trip is therefore motorway; only the N44 stretch within Wassenaar has traffic lights and a lower speed limit. Outside the rush hour you cover the 38 kilometres in around 40 minutes. In the rush hour — roughly 7:00-9:30 and 16:00-18:30 — the journey can stretch to about 55 minutes, mainly because of congestion on the A44 near Leiden and on the A4 around Burgerveen. On busy days at Duinrell, or when there is racing at the Duindigt course, local traffic on the N44 can slow down too, and your driver factors that into the timing.
Pick-up in Wassenaar
Schipholride arranges collection right across Wassenaar: from the Centrum and Oostdorp to leafy villa quarters such as De Kieviet, Oud Wassenaar and Nieuw Wassenaar, and outlying hamlets like Den Deijl, Rijksdorp and Maaldrift. Because the town has no railway station, the pick-up always happens at your own front door — and even down a narrow lane or at a country-estate address your driver will find the agreed spot. The town's diplomatic and expat residences are no problem; if your home sits behind a gated drive, or you are staying in a holiday lodge at Duinrell, simply add a short note to the address when you book.

Pick-up from Schiphol
On the way back to Wassenaar your flight is tracked live: if you land late the pick-up time shifts with it, and you get 60 minutes of free waiting after touchdown. Handy if you are returning from a long-haul trip — even in the small hours the same fixed price applies, with no night surcharge, and you are back at your front door within roughly 40 minutes.
Frequently asked questions
How early should the taxi arrive in Wassenaar for a morning flight?+
Add around 40 minutes of driving time outside the rush hour to the good two hours you will want for check-in and security. For an 08:00 flight that means a pick-up around 05:00-05:15. If your departure falls in the morning rush, allow an extra quarter of an hour, because the journey can stretch to about 55 minutes.
Without a car, are my options the train or a taxi from Wassenaar?+
Not the train directly: Wassenaar has no railway station of its own. You would first need a bus or car to a nearby station such as Voorschoten or The Hague. A taxi runs door to door in around 40 minutes outside the rush hour — with luggage, a group or an early flight, that saves a great deal of bother.
Which roads does the journey follow and where is the worst traffic?+
The route leaves Wassenaar northbound on the Rijksstraatweg (N44), which becomes the A44 towards Leiden and Amsterdam; at the Burgerveen interchange you join the A4 for the Schiphol exit. The delays sit mainly in the rush hour on the A44 near Leiden and the A4 around Burgerveen, while the traffic lights on the N44 within Wassenaar add a few minutes.
Do you collect at Duinrell or from country-estate addresses?+
Yes. Schipholride arranges journeys from any address in Wassenaar, including the Duinrell holiday park or homes on the estates and along lanes such as those in De Kieviet. When you book, add a short note on how your driver can best reach the address — for instance the lodge number at the park, or a gate with an intercom.
How many of us fit in one car from Wassenaar?+
Up to four people travel in Comfort (€95, VW Passat or similar), Premium (€115, Mercedes E-Class or similar) or VIP (€185, S-Class or similar). For five to eight people you book the Van (€125, V-Class or similar) — often cheaper and more practical than two separate cars, with luggage, VAT and Schiphol parking all included.
