Your ride from Hoorn
Let's be honest: there's a direct intercity train from Hoorn to Schiphol, so the train is a serious alternative here. A taxi via Schipholride costs a fixed all-in price from €95 (Comfort) and covers the 57 kilometres in around 50 minutes outside peak hours. The difference lies in door-to-door: no hauling suitcases across the platform at Hoorn station, no parking days to settle at P3, and reliable transport at your door in Zwaag or the Kersenboogerd even at 04:30. Travelling as a group of four or more? The taxi quickly works out close to four train tickets per person — while your own car plus a week of Schiphol parking usually ends up more expensive. The fixed price already includes VAT and all your luggage, and on a pickup ride your flight is tracked live. You can also pick Premium (€115, Mercedes E-Class or similar), a Van for 5–8 people (€125) or VIP (€185, S-Class).
From Hoorn, the driver takes the A7 towards Amsterdam, passing Purmerend to the Zaandam interchange. There the route switches to the A8, then through the Coentunnel onto the A10 West, and at the De Nieuwe Meer interchange onto the A4 towards the Schiphol exit. Outside peak hours that's a smooth ride of about 50 minutes; during the morning rush (roughly 06:30–09:30) the journey can stretch to around 75 minutes. The Coentunnel is the best-known bottleneck here: tailbacks often start as early as the A7 near Purmerend. The driver factors this into the planning and, in case of severe delays, sometimes diverts via the A5 (Westrandweg) towards the A4. For evening flights the outbound trip is usually quiet; the congestion then sits on the carriageway back towards Hoorn instead.
Pick-up in Hoorn
Pickup is possible anywhere in Hoorn: from the old town and the Grote Waal to Risdam, the Kersenboogerd, Nieuwe Steen and the new-build areas of Bangert en Oosterpolder. Zwaag and Blokker, which belong to the municipality, also fall within the fixed price. In the old town, some streets around the harbour are narrow or one-way; provide your exact address when booking and the driver will stop as close to the door as possible. Departing from Hoorn station or Hoorn Kersenboogerd? Then the front of the station is the logical boarding point.

Pick-up from Schiphol
On the way back from Schiphol you take the same route in reverse: A4, Coentunnel, A7 to Hoorn. If you land between 16:00 and 18:30, bear in mind that the evening rush towards North Holland can lengthen the trip. Drop-off is possible in any neighbourhood, so that includes Blokker, Zwaag or either of the two stations.
Frequently asked questions
What time do I need to be picked up in Hoorn for an 08:00 flight?+
Count back: a comfortable 2 hours for check-in plus around 50 minutes of driving time means a pickup around 05:00–05:15. Since you'll be leaving before the morning rush, the A7 is usually still quiet. Book your ride at least a day in advance and the driver will be at your door at the agreed time.
Isn't the train from Hoorn more convenient than a taxi to Schiphol?+
Sometimes it is: there's a direct intercity from Hoorn to Schiphol in about three quarters of an hour, and for one person without much luggage that's perfectly fine. The taxi wins out for early or late flights, lots of suitcases, or a group of three or more — then the price per person comes close to the train fare, but door to departure hall.
Do you also pick up in Zwaag, Blokker or the Kersenboogerd?+
Yes, the fixed price applies to the entire municipality of Hoorn, including Zwaag, Blokker and all neighbourhoods such as Risdam, Grote Waal and Bangert en Oosterpolder. Pickup at business parks like Hoorn 80 or Zevenhuis is no problem either. So you won't pay extra for an address on the edge of town.
Do I pay more if my ride falls during rush hour?+
No. The price is fixed at the moment of booking, even if the Coentunnel is jammed and the trip stretches to around 75 minutes. The only effect of rush hour is that the driver leaves earlier to absorb the extra travel time — those extra minutes don't end up on your bill.
We're travelling from Hoorn with seven people — can that fit in one vehicle?+
Yes, in that case book the Van: a Mercedes V-Class or similar for 5 to 8 people, from Hoorn at a fixed price of €125 including luggage. That's around €18 per person and you travel together, without having to arrange two cars or wait for each other at Schiphol.
