Your route and departure time
The ride begins over the narrow dyke and polder roads of the waard, heading for the N210 and the A15 or A20 at Rotterdam. From there the route bends north via the A16 and A4 to the airport, where exit 4 sets you down at the terminal.
In light traffic you are underway for some 62 minutes. The Rotterdam ring and the A4 section past Leiden are the congestion-prone stretches; when the morning jams build, the driving time ticks up to about 90 minutes.
With Rotterdam heavy, the driver sometimes takes the detour past Gouda and the A12. Since the village sits in the middle of the waard, it is precisely those opening kilometres over dyke and polder that go slowest; once on the motorway it flows.
Given the distance, the pick-up is set generously around your departure window, so check-in never pinches.
From Bergambacht the ride starts slowly: the narrow dyke and polder roads of the Krimpenerwaard towards the N210. Only near Rotterdam, on the A15 or A20, does the pace pick up. Keep that in mind if you live on a dyke road along the Lek.
For a European flight at 07:00 you want to be at Schiphol by 05:00, two hours ahead as the airport advises. The roads are empty at night, so about 62 minutes of driving plus 15 minutes of slack gives a pick-up time of 03:40.
An afternoon departure to a faraway destination works differently. With a long-haul flight at 19:00 you need to be at Schiphol by 16:00, three hours early, and that means crossing the Rotterdam ring and passing Leiden in the afternoon rush.
Allow about 90 minutes. With 15 minutes of slack added, you are collected at 14:15. When Rotterdam is very busy, the driver can detour via Gouda and the A12. Even with a 03:40 start the fare stays fixed at €100 for Comfort: nobody charges a night supplement, and there is no weekend or rush-hour surcharge either.

May the ride stop somewhere along the way?
