From Nieuwegein the A2 and A9 carry you to Schiphol in around 50 minutes: 54 kilometres that, outside the rush hour, run almost entirely on the motorway. You choose your own segment: Comfort (€95, VW Passat or similar), Premium (€120, Mercedes E-Class or similar), Van for 5-8 people (€125, V-Class or similar) or VIP (€210, S-Class or similar). In the morning rush the trip can stretch to around 70 minutes, above all on the A2 between Utrecht and the Holendrecht interchange, and the driver plans the departure around that.
There is no direct train from Nieuwegein (you take the tram to Utrecht Centraal first), so for an early flight, heavy luggage or a group a door-to-door taxi is often the simpler choice. Booking is online and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup.
Your route and departure time
From most districts you reach Nieuwegein's own A2 junction (exit 9, Nieuwegein/IJsselstein) via the Zuidstedeweg; from the north side the driver can instead take the A.C. Verhoefweg, which meets the A12 at exit 16 and joins the A2 at the Oudenrijn interchange.
After that it is straight ahead: the A2 towards Amsterdam as far as the Holendrecht interchange, where you pick up the A9 towards Haarlem, and at the Badhoevedorp interchange you take the A4 onto the airport. If you live on the east side, around Het Klooster or Vreeswijk, the driver can also run via the A27 and the A12 to reach the A2.
The busiest stretch is the A2 between Oudenrijn and Holendrecht: on weekdays roughly between 06:30 and 09:30 it regularly jams, and the evening rush from around 16:00 counts for the return leg too. Within those windows allow a journey that can climb to around 70 minutes; outside them, around 50 minutes is realistic.

How much will A2 traffic towards Schiphol hold me up?
On weekdays between roughly 06:30 and 09:30 the Oudenrijn-Holendrecht stretch often fills up, so the journey can climb to around 70 minutes rather than the usual 50. When setting your pick-up time the driver allows for the expected traffic at your departure moment, so you still reach the terminal with a comfortable margin.
Can I reach Schiphol from Nieuwegein by public transport instead?
Not directly: Nieuwegein has no railway station, so you first take the fast tram to Utrecht Centraal and change there for the train to Schiphol. With suitcases, children or a flight before 07:00, a door-to-door taxi from your front door to the departure hall is usually the more comfortable option to weigh up.
Can I be collected in Vreeswijk, Galecop or at Het Klooster?
Yes, the whole of Nieuwegein falls within the pick-up area: residential districts such as Vreeswijk, Galecop and Batau, but also business parks like Het Klooster, Plettenburg and Rijnhuizen. From the east side the driver runs via the A27 and A12 to the A2 wherever that turns out to be quicker on the day.
