Your ride from Nieuwegein

From Nieuwegein the A2 and A9 carry you to Schiphol in around 50 minutes: 54 kilometres that, outside the rush hour, run almost entirely on the motorway. For that journey Schipholride charges a fixed all-in price from €95 (Comfort), with VAT, luggage and the parking costs at Schiphol already included; there is no night surcharge. You choose your own segment: Comfort (€95, VW Passat or similar), Premium (€115, Mercedes E-Class or similar), Van for 5-8 people (€125, V-Class or similar) or VIP (€185, S-Class or similar). In the morning rush the trip can stretch to around 70 minutes, above all on the A2 between Utrecht and the Holendrecht interchange, and the driver plans the departure around that. There is no direct train from Nieuwegein — you take the tram to Utrecht Centraal first — so for an early flight, heavy luggage or a group a door-to-door taxi is often the simpler choice. Booking is online and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure.

From most districts you reach Nieuwegein's own A2 junction (exit 9, Nieuwegein/IJsselstein) via the Zuidstedeweg; from the north side the driver can instead take the A.C. Verhoefweg, which meets the A12 at exit 16 and joins the A2 at the Oudenrijn interchange. After that it is straight ahead: the A2 towards Amsterdam as far as the Holendrecht interchange, where you pick up the A9 towards Haarlem, and at the Badhoevedorp interchange you take the A4 onto the airport. If you live on the east side, around Het Klooster or Vreeswijk, the driver can also run via the A27 and the A12 to reach the A2. The busiest stretch is the A2 between Oudenrijn and Holendrecht: on weekdays roughly between 06:30 and 09:30 it regularly jams, and the evening rush from around 16:00 counts for the return leg too. Within those windows allow a journey that can climb to around 70 minutes; outside them, around 50 minutes is realistic. The driver picks the route that fits the traffic on the day.

Pick-up in Nieuwegein

You can be collected in every district of Nieuwegein: from Batau-Noord and Galecop on the A2 side to Vreeswijk and Hoogzandveld in the south. Nieuwegein has no railway station — the fast tram to Utrecht Centraal is the only rail link — so the driver simply comes to your front door. For offices on Rijnhuizen or the Plettenburg business park, give the company address when you book; around Cityplaza in the centre you can agree a sensible boarding spot through the booking details.

Pick-up from Schiphol

After landing you have 60 minutes of free waiting time, so even with a queue at the baggage belt there is no pressure. If your flight runs late it is tracked live and your pick-up moment shifts with it. If you land on a Friday afternoon, bear in mind that the return run along the A2 towards Nieuwegein can take longer than the outbound trip.

Frequently asked questions

What time should I leave Nieuwegein for an 08:00 flight?+

Work back from departure: a good two hours for check-in and security, plus around 50 minutes on the road, means leaving Nieuwegein at roughly 05:00 to 05:15. That early the A2 is still empty, so the rush hour plays no part. There is no night surcharge, and the fixed price stays the same at every hour of the day.

How much will A2 traffic towards Schiphol hold me up?+

On weekdays between roughly 06:30 and 09:30 the Oudenrijn-Holendrecht stretch often fills up, so the journey can climb to around 70 minutes rather than the usual 50. When setting your pick-up time the driver allows for the expected traffic at your departure moment, so you still reach the terminal with a comfortable margin.

Can I reach Schiphol from Nieuwegein by public transport instead?+

Not directly: Nieuwegein has no railway station, so you first take the fast tram to Utrecht Centraal and change there for the train to Schiphol. With suitcases, children or a flight before 07:00, a door-to-door taxi from your front door to the departure hall is usually the more comfortable option to weigh up.

Can I be collected in Vreeswijk, Galecop or at Het Klooster?+

Yes, the whole of Nieuwegein falls within the pick-up area: residential districts such as Vreeswijk, Galecop and Batau, but also business parks like Het Klooster, Plettenburg and Rijnhuizen. From the east side the driver runs via the A27 and A12 to the A2 wherever that turns out to be quicker on the day.

There are seven of us travelling — will we fit in one vehicle?+

Yes. The Van (Mercedes V-Class or similar) carries 5 to 8 people including luggage for a fixed price of €125 in total. For a family or group of friends from Nieuwegein that often works out cheaper per person than separate train tickets plus the tram ride to Utrecht Centraal, and you travel straight from your door.
