Your ride from Zeist
From Zeist it is 59 kilometres to Schiphol, and outside the rush hour a taxi covers that distance in around 55 minutes, straight from your front door. For the journey Schipholride arranges a screened driver at a fixed all-in price from €95 (Comfort), with VAT, luggage and the parking costs at Schiphol already included; there is no night surcharge. The train is an option too, but Zeist has no station of its own: you travel first by bus or bike to Driebergen-Zeist and usually change at Utrecht Centraal, which soon adds up to well over an hour door to door with cases in hand. Travelling alone with hand luggage outside the rush hour, the train is cheaper. With two or more people, bulky bags or an early flight, the taxi wins on convenience and often on total cost. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure.
From Zeist the driver heads out along the Utrechtseweg or De Dreef to join the A28 towards Utrecht. At the Rijnsweerd interchange you pick up the Utrecht ring road, then the A2 towards Amsterdam. At the Holendrecht interchange the route swings onto the A9, and via the Badhoevedorp interchange you reach the A4 and the Schiphol exit. During the morning rush (roughly 7:00-9:30) the weak spots are the A28 near Utrecht and the ring road itself; in the evening rush the A9 around Amstelveen clogs up too. At those times the run can stretch to around 80 minutes rather than the usual 55. A screened driver knows these bottlenecks and diverts where it helps, for instance via the A12 and the A2 from the Oudenrijn interchange. When your pick-up time is planned, the rush-hour window around your departure is taken into account as standard, so you keep a comfortable margin for check-in.
Pick-up in Zeist
Schipholride arranges journeys from every part of the municipality: from Zeist-Centrum and the tower blocks of Vollenhove to Kerckebosch, Den Dolder, Huis ter Heide, Bosch en Duin and Austerlitz further out. For Den Dolder and Huis ter Heide the A28 slip road is just around the corner, so the driving time there sits at the shorter end of the range. Business addresses are no trouble either, whether it is the office strip along the Utrechtseweg, the Achmea complex on the Handelsweg or the KNVB Campus on the eastern edge of town. Just add the reception desk or entrance in the booking notes so the driver knows exactly where to wait.

Pick-up from Schiphol
On the way back to Zeist, bear in mind that if you land between 15:00 and 18:00 the last stretch over the A28 and the Utrecht ring road can run a little slower, so reckon on the rush-hour range rather than the usual 55 minutes. Your flight is tracked live, and with 60 minutes of free waiting time after landing a slow baggage belt is no cause for stress. Whatever the hour, you pay exactly the same fixed price back to Zeist, because there is no night surcharge.
Frequently asked questions
What pick-up time should I expect in Zeist for the earliest morning flights?+
Work back from your departure time: a good two hours for check-in and bags, plus around 55 minutes of driving from Zeist. For an 08:00 departure that means a pick-up around 04:45 to 05:00. At that hour the roads are empty, and because Schipholride charges no night surcharge you pay exactly the same fixed price as in the middle of the day.
Is the train from Zeist a serious alternative to a taxi to Schiphol?+
Sometimes it is. Zeist has no station of its own, so you travel first to Driebergen-Zeist and usually change at Utrecht Centraal, which together comes to well over an hour plus the journeys at either end. Alone with hand luggage that is fine and cheaper, but with more people, plenty of cases or an early flight a taxi from €95 all-in is often the more sensible choice.
Are Den Dolder, Bosch en Duin and Austerlitz covered as well?+
Yes, every part of the municipality of Zeist falls under the same fixed prices: Comfort €95, Premium €115, Van €125 and VIP €185. From Den Dolder and Huis ter Heide you are on the A28 especially quickly; from Austerlitz the driver heads through Zeist or via the A12 to reach the motorway, with no change to the all-in fare.
How much extra time should I allow if I leave Zeist during the rush hour?+
Outside the rush hour you are standing at the departure hall after around 55 minutes; in the morning or evening rush the run can stretch to around 80 minutes, chiefly because of the A28 near Utrecht and the A9. For a rush-hour departure, plan roughly half an hour of extra margin on top of your normal check-in time so you are never caught short.
Can I book a van or a larger vehicle from Zeist for a group?+
Yes. The Van (Mercedes V-Class or similar) carries 5 to 8 people with their luggage for a fixed price of €125 all-in, which works out at around €18 a head shared between seven travellers. For business trips from the Utrechtseweg office strip or the KNVB Campus, Premium (E-Class) at €115 and VIP (S-Class) at €185 are available too.
