From Hoofddorp you travel via the Kruisweg (N201) to the A4 and take the Schiphol exit almost straight afterwards — with smooth traffic you are at the departure hall in about 15 minutes. The N201 joins the A4 at De Hoek, and it is precisely this stretch that fills up during the morning rush (roughly 07:00-09:00) and evening rush (16:30-18:30): the trip can then stretch to about 25 minutes.
The driver follows the live traffic picture and diverts where needed via the local road network around Schiphol-Zuid. In August, watch out for Mysteryland in the Haarlemmermeerse Bos: the municipality then closes roads in the evening, including the Drie Merenweg (N205), and the roads around Hoofddorp are noticeably busier that weekend.
