Harmelen lies in the Groene Hart just west of Utrecht, a village on the Oude Rijn with the A12 and the Utrecht–Gouda railway running right alongside. Reckon from the Oude Rijn on 43 kilometres to Schiphol, or about three quarters of an hour outside rush hour.

From Harmelen the ascent to the A12 is short: via the Dorpsstraat and the connection at Harmelen you're quickly on the motorway heading west. From there it goes past Woerden and Bodegraven to the Gouwe interchange, where the route runs via the A12 and the N207 or via the A2 towards the Haarlemmermeer and the A4, with the Schiphol exit as endpoint.
An alternative takes the A2 at Utrecht to the north. The sensitive point is on the A12 between Woerden and Gouda, which can fill towards The Hague in the morning and evening peak. If the A12 is jammed, the N198 along the Oude Rijn offers a local diversion to Woerden.
Outside rush hour you stay around three quarters of an hour with those 43 kilometres; in the peak it can rise towards an hour.
Pick-up in Harmelen
Pick-up is possible throughout Harmelen: in the old core around the church, on the new-build by Harmelerwaard, and along the ribbons of the Breeveld and the Reijerscop. Addresses on the business estate and towards the hamlet of Gerverscop fall within the area too.
