From the A1 it goes past Rijssen, Deventer and Apeldoorn over the Veluwe to Amersfoort, where the route runs via the Eemnes interchange and past Naarden and Muiden to the Diemen interchange.
At Diemen it goes over the A9 past Amstelveen and the Badhoevedorp interchange to the A4 and the Schiphol exit. It's a long ride of a good 160 kilometres; the sensitive stretch is on the A1 between Apeldoorn and Amsterdam, which fills in the peak.
The N18 through Twente runs smoothly since the widening. Outside rush hour you reckon on a good two hours.
