Zutphen, one of the country's oldest Hanseatic cities, sits on the IJssel where the Achterhoek meets the Veluwe, and lies about 124 kilometres from Schiphol. Off-peak you are at the terminal in around 105 minutes. The train is possible (from Zutphen station via Amersfoort or Apeldoorn with a change), but door to door that soon exceeds two hours once the legs at either end are counted.
Every fare includes VAT, luggage and Schiphol parking, there is no night surcharge, and cancelling costs nothing up to 24 hours before pickup. Travelling with a family, plenty of cases or an early departure, the direct car is almost always the most comfortable choice.
Your route and departure time
Most journeys leave Zutphen on the N345 and pick up the A1 westwards past Apeldoorn and Amersfoort; near the Hoevelaken interchange the driver can continue towards Utrecht via Amersfoort. A common alternative swings further south over the A50 and the A12 past Arnhem.
Both roads converge on the Utrecht ring, from where the A2, the Holendrecht interchange and the A9 lead through Badhoevedorp to the A4 and the Schiphol exit. In the morning rush the A1 around Amersfoort and the Utrecht ring are the recognised bottlenecks, pushing the journey towards the 136 minutes at the top of the range.
Your driver weighs the two options on the day itself and keeps an eye on the congestion around Amersfoort and Utrecht. The pick-up time is set generously against the rush-hour window of your departure.
From Zutphen there are two roads to Schiphol, and the time of day decides which one the driver takes. Both meet on the Utrecht ring. Flying to a European destination at 07:00, you want to be at Schiphol by 05:00, since the airport advises two hours.
At night the ride takes about 105 minutes. With 15 minutes of slack included you are picked up at 03:00. On the western or northern side of town, close to the A1 and the N345, you get going a little faster than from the old centre around the Walburgiskerk.
In the afternoon the A1 near Amersfoort often backs up, and so does the Utrecht ring. For a long-haul flight at 19:00 you are in the departures hall three hours ahead, at 16:00, and you allow about 136 minutes on the road.
With the 15 minutes of slack your pick-up becomes 13:25. The departure hour has no effect on the fare: Comfort is €195, and this ride knows no night, weekend or rush-hour surcharge.

Every address in Zutphen and neighbouring Warnsveld can be a starting point: the historic city centre around the Walburgiskerk and the 's-Gravenhof, plus the districts of Leesten, Waterkwartier, De Hoven and Zuidwijken.

Can I travel to Schiphol on business from De Mars or Revelhorst?
Yes, rides can start from De Mars along the IJssel and from Revelhorst as well. Put the right entrance or company in the comments and the driver goes straight to the correct spot. You settle online in advance and get a VAT invoice.
