From Ridderkerk you pick up the A16 towards Rotterdam quickly, via the Rotterdamseweg and the short link at the Ridderkerk interchange. The driver crosses the Van Brienenoord bridge and then chooses according to the traffic: via the Terbregseplein and the A20/A13, or via the newer A16 Rotterdam straight onto the A13.
Both options feed onto the A4, where you turn off for the airport at the Schiphol exit. The total driving distance is 78 kilometres; outside the busy hours you are standing in front of the departure hall after around 65 minutes.
The vulnerable point is the Van Brienenoord bridge combined with the Terbregseplein: roughly between 7:00-9:30 and 16:00-18:30 the journey can stretch to around 95 minutes. If there are roadworks or a bridge opening on the A16, the driver diverts via the A15 and the A4 past the Beneluxtunnel.
