Your ride from Otterlo

Otterlo is a small Veluwe village in the Ede municipality, wedged between the heath of De Hoge Veluwe National Park and the woods towards Hoenderloo. Whoever lives or stays here and has a flight pays a fixed amount in advance: €145 for Comfort, €180 for Premium, €190 for the Van (5-8 seats) and €320 for VIP.

The route to the airport is 91 kilometres long and takes about 83 minutes without peak congestion. In the rate are VAT, all luggage and the parking charges at Schiphol; a night surcharge or public-holiday surcharge doesn't exist.

Reservation is possible up to at the latest one hour before the pick-up time, payment happens at booking straight away. Many rides here come from guests who travel on directly to their flight after a few days on the Veluwe.

The village lies as the crow flies close to the A12: over the N310 along the park edge you're on the connection at Ede within a quarter of an hour. There a long, straight line westbound begins, past Veenendaal, Maarsbergen and Driebergen to the Utrecht ring.

At Oudenrijn the route bends onto the A2 and after Breukelen and Vinkeveen the A9 and then the A4 bring you to the airport exit. In all that's 91 kilometres, good for about 83 minutes outside the congestion. Sensitive above all is the stretch of A12 between Veenendaal and Utrecht, which fills city-inward in the morning; around eight the A2 at Holendrecht is also at a standstill.

In those hours 107 minutes is more realistic. If the A12 is in a bad state, there's a usable alternative from the Veluwe: over the N224 to Amersfoort and further via the A28 and the A1.

Pick-up in Otterlo

The car pulls up at your address in the village — around the Dorpsstraat, the Onderlangs or the Arnhemseweg — and just as readily at a hotel, group accommodation or holiday park on the wood edge, near the Kröller-Müller Museum.

Whoever stays in Harskamp or Wekerom is collected at the agreed spot too. There's no station of its own; the nearest halt is Ede-Wageningen, to which you'd first have to go by bus or car with all the cases. That makes departing from your own door more practical here than in many other places.

Taxi from Schiphol Airport to Otterlo

For the return trip the same fixed amount applies as outward. The driver keeps track of the flight details, so a late landing yields no missed arrangement, and the starting point is the meeting point in the arrivals hall of Schiphol Plaza.

After landing you have an hour of free waiting time for passport control and cases; then you drive back up onto the Veluwe in about 83 minutes.
