At 193 kilometres, the journey from Assen, the capital of Drenthe, to Schiphol ranks among the longest in the SchipholRide network. All the more reason for a price that is settled before you set off: €280 in Comfort (VW Passat or similar), €350 in Premium (Mercedes E-Class or similar), €365 for the Van carrying 5-8 people (V-Class or similar) and €595 in VIP (S-Class or similar).
VAT, luggage and the parking charges at Schiphol are included, and night-time hours cost nothing extra. Outside the rush hour you are on the road for around 157 minutes; in the peak that can head towards 204. A driver who collects you at home spares you the long rail journey from the north with its change at Zwolle.
Cancellation is free up to a day before departure, and for the return the driver times his run to your actual landing.
Your route and departure time
From Assen the route first follows the A28 south, past Hoogeveen, Meppel and Zwolle. Beyond Zwolle the same motorway continues along Nunspeet, Harderwijk and Amersfoort, until the driver turns towards Amsterdam at the Hoevelaken interchange or via the A1 and reaches the A4 to the terminal through the A10 ring or the Diemen interchange.
Off-peak the drive takes around 157 minutes. On a corridor this long there are two sensitive stretches: around Zwolle and, above all, around Amersfoort and the Hoevelaken interchange, where peak traffic can stretch the journey towards 204 minutes.
Early flights therefore depart well ahead of the morning rush, with the driver tracking live conditions on the A28 throughout.
A ride of over 190 kilometres along the A28 calls for generous planning. For a European flight at 07:00, Schiphol advises being inside 2 hours ahead, so at 05:00. That means leaving Assen at 02:05: about 157 minutes on a quiet A28 plus 15 minutes of slack.
From Kloosterveen, Marsdijk or Peelo the slip road onto the A28 is close by. In the partly car-free centre around the Brink you agree on a pick-up spot, so the driver does not need to search at that early hour.
For an intercontinental flight at 19:00 you want to be at Schiphol by 16:00, 3 hours ahead. On such a long route there are two sensitive points: Zwolle, and above all Amersfoort with the Hoevelaken interchange.
In the afternoon rush the drive can rise to about 204 minutes, so the driver picks you up as early as 12:20, with 15 minutes of slack. In Loon, Ubbena or Rhee the car simply comes to the village, at the same fixed fare.
That fare, €280 in Comfort, does not depend on the hour. A ride at 02:05 costs as much as one at 12:20, and weekends add nothing either.

Collection covers the whole of Assen: from Kloosterveen and Marsdijk to Peelo, Pittelo and the neighbourhoods around the centre and the TT circuit. The villages within the municipality (Loon, Ubbena and Rhee among them) carry the same fixed price.

Can a booking from Assen be cancelled without charge?

Allow around 157 minutes for the 193 kilometres on clear roads. In the rush hour that heads towards 204 minutes, mainly because of the A28 near Amersfoort. The driver deliberately schedules early flights ahead of the morning crush so you check in with plenty of margin.
Is the taxi more convenient than the train from Assen?
The train from Assen station runs to Schiphol with a change at Zwolle and easily takes two to two and a half hours. The taxi travels door to door, no platform changes with cases, and at night you are not hostage to the last departure.
With four or more travellers the Van becomes a realistic per-person option for this distance.
Will I be collected near the TT circuit or in the villages around Assen?
Yes, whether you are in Kloosterveen, Marsdijk or a village such as Loon or Rhee, you are collected at home for the same €280 in Comfort. An address close to the TT circuit is equally fine. Fill in your full address when reserving and the departure is timed to your flight.
Can I travel on business from Messchenveld or the Peelerpark?
Yes, the driver collects you at your company on Messchenveld or the Peelerpark. Note the company name and entrance with your reservation. You settle the fare online when booking and receive an invoice with VAT. Premium is €350 and VIP €595. Off-peak the ride along the A28 takes about 157 minutes.
Assen–Schiphol with a team or family of eight: does that fit?
Yes, the Van, a Mercedes V-Class or similar, seats 5 to 8 people. From Assen you pay €365 for the complete vehicle. That amount includes VAT, luggage and the parking and drop-off costs at Schiphol. Agree on one pick-up address in Kloosterveen, Pittelo or wherever you meet, and you will all arrive together at the departures hall.
Can I be picked up in the centre around the Brink?
The centre around the Brink is partly car-free, so the driver cannot stop at every door. When booking, give a pick-up spot where the car can pull up, for instance at the edge of the car-free zone. Put it in the comments so the spot is fixed in advance.
From there you are quickly on the A28 towards Zwolle.
