How Uber and Bolt work at Schiphol
You order in the app after landing; a pre-booked taxi suits you better if you want certainty about the price and a car at a set time, such as for an early flight, a group or lots of luggage.
Taxis ordered through an app, such as Uber and Bolt, have their own stop at Schiphol: the App pick-up point (stops E1 to E6). Follow the signs from the terminal; there is free Wi-Fi at the stop. The regular taxi rank is somewhere else, in front of Schiphol Plaza (Schiphol).
Anyone driving for Uber in the Netherlands needs a valid chauffeurskaart, the Dutch taxi driver card (Uber). You see the price in the app before you order. It is based on the expected distance and time and moves with demand at that moment (Uber): in busy periods, bad weather or when many flights land at once, the same ride can cost more.
Which choice fits when
Uber or Bolt works well
Landing during the day, travelling alone or as a couple, light luggage and a ride to Amsterdam or nearby. You stay flexible and only order once you have your suitcase.
Pre-booking works better
Very early to Schiphol, when you do not want to depend on who happens to be driving at 04:00. Or a group, a child seat, a van or a ride on invoice. You know the price in advance, even when it is busy.
After a delayed flight
With an app you only order after landing, so a delay costs nothing extra, but the price depends on the moment. With a pre-booked taxi that tracks your flight, the pickup time moves with your flight. More on delayed flight and your taxi.
The taxi rank as a third option
At the official taxi rank in front of Schiphol Plaza taxis are always waiting. You pay what the meter shows, within the legal maximum, and you can pay contactless in every taxi (Schiphol).

Questions about Uber, Bolt and taxis at Schiphol

Yes. Uber and Bolt have their own stop at Schiphol, the App pick-up point at stops E1 to E6. Follow the signs from the terminal; there is free Wi-Fi at the stop.
Where is the Uber pickup at Schiphol?
At the App pick-up point, stops E1 to E6. That is a different place from the regular taxi rank in front of Schiphol Plaza. Check the pin in your app as well.
Is Uber cheaper than a taxi to Schiphol?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. You see the Uber price in advance, but it moves with demand at that moment. A pre-booked taxi has a fixed price that does not change when it is busy. For your ride, compare the price in the app with the fixed price, for example in the fare table by municipality.
Can I take an Uber to Schiphol for an early flight?
You can, but you only order at the moment itself and depend on who is driving then. If you want certainty about a car at, say, 04:00, a pre-booked taxi is the calmer choice. See also early morning taxi to Schiphol.
What if my flight is delayed?
With Uber or Bolt you order after landing, so the delay itself costs nothing. With a pre-booked taxi it depends on the company: at SchipholRide your flight is tracked live and you get 60 minutes free after landing.
