Five questions before you book
- Is my flight tracked if I give my flight number, and does the pickup time then move automatically?
- How many minutes after landing is waiting free, and what does waiting cost after that?
- What happens if my flight is cancelled or rebooked: can I move the ride for free, and until when?
- How do I reach the driver after landing, and how does the driver reach me?
- Where exactly does the driver wait: in the arrivals hall, at Schiphol Plaza or outside?
Where you are picked up at Schiphol
- Taxi rank: outside, in front of Schiphol Plaza, at A1 (Schiphol).
- Uber and Bolt: the App pick-up point, stops E1 to E6 (Schiphol).
- Pre-booked taxi: the spot in your confirmation. Ask in advance if it is not stated.
- Is someone collecting you by car? Schiphol recommends P1: from there it is a 2 to 6 minute walk to Schiphol Plaza and the arrival halls. Kiss & Ride is only for a very short stop (Schiphol). See Kiss & Ride Schiphol.
Compensation for delays
If your flight reaches its final destination more than three hours late, you are often entitled to compensation from the airline, up to €600 (European Consumer Centre Netherlands). That is separate from your taxi. If the delay causes extra costs, keep your receipts and your booking confirmation.
SchipholRide as one of the options
SchipholRide is a booking platform for taxi rides to and from Schiphol, active since 2018. Your ride is carried out by an affiliated operator with a taxi licence; the driver holds a Dutch chauffeurskaart (taxi driver card).
You see a fixed total price before you book, from €35 (Comfort), including VAT, luggage and Schiphol parking costs, with no night surcharge. For pickups at Schiphol your flight is tracked live and you get 60 minutes free after landing. Prices per town are in the fare table by municipality; cancellation terms are on cancelling and changing.
For pickups at Schiphol you receive the pickup spot by email in advance; after landing, the driver gets in touch. Waiting beyond the first 60 minutes may be charged separately. If you want a name sign in the arrivals hall, you can add Meet & Greet for €30 (not with Comfort, included with VIP). More on flight tracking and pickup from Schiphol.
Questions about a delayed flight and your taxi
What happens to my booked taxi if my flight is delayed?
If the company tracks your flight, the pickup time moves with your landing and you do not need to do anything. If it does not, pass on the new time as soon as you can. When booking, ask how much waiting time after landing is free; that varies by company.
Do I have to pay if the taxi has to wait for me?
That depends on the company. Many include some free minutes after landing and charge a waiting rate after that. At SchipholRide, waiting is free for 60 minutes after landing; extra waiting time may be charged separately.
My flight lands earlier than planned. Will the taxi be there?
With flight tracking the company sees the earlier landing and adjusts the pickup time. Without flight tracking, it is best to call or send a message yourself as soon as you have landed.
What if my flight is cancelled?
Contact the taxi company as soon as possible to move or cancel the ride, and read its terms for this. At SchipholRide you can move the ride free of charge if you let us know at least 4 hours before the planned pickup time. See cancelling and changing.
Will the airline refund my taxi costs?
It depends on the situation. With a delay of more than three hours at your final destination you are often entitled to compensation of up to €600 (European Consumer Centre Netherlands). Keep receipts for extra costs and check with your airline.
