- a longer journey with stops is not a problem.
Choose a taxi if…
- there are three or more of you;

- you have a lot of luggage or want to go straight from door to door.
Questions about taxis and shuttles to Schiphol
What is the difference between a shuttle and a taxi to Schiphol?
A shuttle is shared transport: you share a minibus with other travellers and it makes several stops along the way to pick everyone up or drop them off. That often makes the price per person lower, but the journey takes longer and you are tied to a pickup window. A taxi is private transport: only you (and the people you are travelling with) are on board, the ride takes you straight from door to door and the price is fixed per ride, not per person.
Is a shuttle to Schiphol cheaper than a taxi?
Per person, a shared shuttle is often cheaper if you are travelling alone, as it charges per seat. But if there are three or four of you, the fixed taxi fare (which you split between you) soon comes close to the shuttle price or drops below it, and you still travel directly with no stops along the way. So always work out the total price for your whole party, not the price per person.
How much longer does a shared shuttle take?
That depends on how many other passengers are on board and where they live. The pickup window is often 20 to 60 minutes, and the stops along the way add extra travel time. If you are on a tight schedule or catching an early flight, that is a risk; a private taxi leaves at the time you choose and goes direct.
When should you choose a taxi instead of a shuttle?
For an early or night flight, when several of you are travelling together, when you have a lot of luggage, or when you want certainty about your departure time. In those cases the direct ride, the fixed price and the lack of stops along the way outweigh the difference in price per person.
