Your ride from Laren
From Laren, the A1 and the A9 give you a near-motorway run to Schiphol: 44 kilometres, around 40 minutes outside the rush hour. For that journey Schipholride charges a fixed all-in price from €70, with VAT, luggage and the parking costs at Schiphol already included; there is no night surcharge for early flights. You choose your own segment: Comfort (€70, VW Passat or similar), Premium (€85, Mercedes E-Class or similar), Van for 5-8 people (€95, V-Class or similar) or VIP (€140, S-Class or similar). Laren has no railway station of its own, so by public transport you first take a bus to Hilversum and change there — an awkward start with suitcases. A screened driver collects you at your own address instead, whether on the Brink or in Zevenend, and drops you at the right departure hall. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure.
From the village the driver heads via the Naarderstraat or the Rijksweg-West to the A1, joining at junction 8 Blaricum or junction 9 Laren. From there it runs west along the A1 towards Amsterdam, picks up the A9 at the Diemen interchange through the Gaasperdammertunnel, and reaches the Schiphol exit at the Badhoevedorp interchange. Outside the rush hour this is a calm trip of roughly 40 minutes. The morning rush (around 06:30-09:30) towards Amsterdam is the tricky window: the A1 between Eemnes and Diemen and the A9 at Badhoevedorp fill up, and the journey can stretch to about 60 minutes. The driver factors that into the pick-up time. In the evening rush it is mainly the return leg that suffers; towards Schiphol it usually flows well. If the Gaasperdammertunnel is blocked, the A1 to the A10-Zuid and then the A4 makes a workable alternative, and the driver picks the fastest option on the day.
Pick-up in Laren
Laren is compact, so a pick-up is sorted quickly anywhere: around the Brink and the Sint-Jansbasiliek, in Zevenend and the Omloop on the east side, near the Zwarte Berg in the north or in the Postiljon area to the south. In the old centre the streets are narrow and one-way, so give your house number when you book and the car waits as close to your door as it can. Laren has no NS station of its own — which is exactly why so many residents of this leafy 't Gooi village, faced with early flights or plenty of luggage, choose a door-to-departure-hall ride rather than a bus to Hilversum.

Pick-up from Schiphol
On the way back your flight is tracked live, so even after a delayed landing a driver is ready for you, with 60 minutes of free waiting time once you touch down. Handy for Laren: late in the evening there is no longer a direct public-transport link into the village, while the taxi brings you home via the A9 and A1 in around 40 minutes. And whatever the hour you land, the fixed price stays the same — there is no night surcharge.
Frequently asked questions
How do I work out my pick-up time in Laren for an early flight?+
Count back from your departure time: roughly 40 minutes of driving plus a good two hours for check-in and security. For an 08:00 flight that puts your pick-up around 05:15-05:30. Because there is no night surcharge, such an early ride costs the same fixed amount as one in the middle of the day, so an early start carries no penalty.
Which roads does the ride from Laren follow, and where does it jam most?+
The standard route is the A1 towards Amsterdam, the A9 through the Gaasperdammertunnel at the Diemen interchange, and the Schiphol exit at Badhoevedorp. During the morning rush it is mainly the A1 near Diemen and the A9 at Badhoevedorp that clog up; at those times the trip can stretch to around 60 minutes instead of the usual 40.
Train or taxi from Laren to Schiphol — which is more practical?+
There is no direct option: Laren has no railway station at all. By public transport you first take a bus to Hilversum station and change there towards Schiphol. That can work fine, but with suitcases, an early flight or a group of you, a taxi from your own front door to the departure hall is considerably simpler and saves the changeover.
Can I also be collected in Zevenend, the Omloop or near the Zwarte Berg?+
Yes, the whole of Laren falls within the fixed price — from the Brink to Zevenend, the Omloop, the Zwarte Berg, Postiljon and Rijksweg-Noord. In the narrow streets around the centre the driver will, if needed, agree with you exactly where the car can pull in, so getting in with your bags actually works.
Six of us are flying from Laren — does that fit in one vehicle?+
Yes, the Van (Mercedes V-Class or similar) carries 5 to 8 people with luggage for a fixed total of €95. That often works out cheaper per person than two separate cars, and you travel together. For extra comfort there is also Premium (E-Class, €85) and VIP (S-Class, €140), each at one fixed all-in price.
